Minutes of the 290th meeting of Inner Universe Toastmaster Club
Cultural Awareness theme by TM Mohamad Asif

This was the spectacular meeting led by TM Mohamad Asif who recently accomplished Competitive Communicator title. He led us through Cultural awareness and its importance. TM Mohammed Basheer guided us through the Toastmasters journey and its significance. We had four guest. Meeting started at 7:35 pm.
Young jubilant Sergeant at arms TM Syamlal opened the meeting reading out the Toastmaster International mission and urged the participants to refrain talking from Taboo topics of politics, religion and sex. He invited President TM Rasheed to start the meeting.
President Rasheed spoke about the 3 letter word which is most circulated today i.e., VAT. He said until now we benefited the Tax free income. From January on wards 5% tax is going to apply on certain commodities. He called the Charismatic Toastmaster of the evening TM Mohamed Asif to lead the meeting.
TM Mohamad Asif lighted the thoughts on Cultural Awareness with an example on how the winner of humorous contest lost when he participated in another country. He stated it is important to know the culture to make friends or else miscommunication will ultimately lead to friends apart. He introduced all the role players
Greet Master and quiz master Seema Mittal, Timer Dipak Soni, Ah Counter TM Mahanshu, Grammarian TM Shameema all led their role well
TM Mahanshu gave Thought of the evening on Cultural Awareness he says how we perceive the World is often more important than what we see. He gave a message By changing our Cultural lens our interpretation of the world can be adjusted accordingly.
Word of the day by TM Syamlal introduced a beautiful word ‘Embrace’ meaning cherish, love, welcome, to take up especially readily or gladly with example like Charity embraces all acts that contribute to human welfare.
TM Prachi expressed her happiness as she spoke about her home town Kolhapur in her Project 4 which is nested in soothing place of Sahyadri mountains and ruled by Chatrapathi Maharaj. She introduced some of the attractive spots like Panhala Fort, Mahalakshmi temple, Shalini Palace, Rankala lake and also about the Kolhapuri
delicacy. She recalled the sunset memories of the town from her recent visit, evaluated by TM Nader Gohary
TM Rajan Twade explained about the second most popular game after Football in his Project 8 ‘Badminton’. He explained the history which has its roots from India, China, Greece and game basics like court length, racket, shuttle cock and importance of different shoe. He spoke about rules and scoring as game starts with love all and 21 is
the match point. He also came up with his own theory like start love all, smash, return and drop, be a quick thinker, coordinate with partner, serve well, return well, play well and embrace, evaluated by TM Namrata
TM Haneef spoke about Embrace knowledge in his project 9, he came up with question of how many like to share knowledge? He spoke about how we acquire knowledge since childhood from parents, teachers etc and by sharing knowledge one will expand knowledge. He urged everyone to write an article in which they have knowledge, giving his article as example as he has written an article about how keeping Car clean will avoid accidents. He gave a message by referring to the flowing water how much it is useful like wise sharing knowledge is also important, evaluated by TM Rasheed.
TM Mohamad Basheer in his advance project spoke about “Sheikh Zayed-The great” on 1918 a child born who was smart, knowledgable, received basic education and later he became the founder of UAE. He ruled the hearts of people including expatriates. Though the oil was found but the country was ruled by British. He visited many countries and planned to develop like them. He was the firt man to call for union because of his vision, negotiation 2nd December 1971 with 6 other emirates UAE formed, next year Ras Al Khaimah joined. Sheikh Zayed is an individual, dedicated himself to the country, he is the person to be remembered.Year 2018 is marked as the Year of Sheikh Zayed as the country pays tribute to the 100th year of Father of Nation, evaluated by TM Abidul Islam

TM Shameema, TM Namrata, TM Mahanshu and guests like Mr. Jose, Ms. Latifa, Mr. Ian, Mr Jurius brilliantly took the table topic challenge.
General evaluator TM Basheer appreciated and congratulated TM Asif on his first day as TME. He asked evaluator to summarize and advised all the toastmasters to applause to motivate the speaker and to give feedback after every speech. He asked to decorate the venue according to theme and also to conducted quiz sometimes related to theme.
TM Mohamad Asif concluded with his role and handed over the stage to President. TM Rasheed thanked and well appreciated for the insightful meeting by TM Asif and closed the meeting. Dinner served at 9:35 pm.
