With its latest, upgraded slot release, TRUEWAYS mechanics, BGaming wanted to provide its players with a sequel to its unique Elvis Frog series after its recent huge success of the Aloha King Elvis slots and in Vegas.  The game is titled, Elvis Frog TRUEWAYSTM and is equipped with more than 260,000 winning ways.

New slot mechanics and impressive visual:

TRUEWAYS is a new and improved slot mechanic with generous rewards and it represents a perfect chance to win an amazing jackpot. The new title is a 5×3 slot with 25 paylines, that consists of 6 reels, which means any random 2 to 8 symbol number can land on each of the reels.

Betty, a new iGaming startup sitting at the intersection of online casino and casual mobile gaming, announced its latest seed round led by Karlani Capital has raised $5 million, attracting interest from a number of investment funds.

Online Slot Players in the Focus

The new funding round for the American-Bulgarian real-money entertainment startup saw interest from other investors, including CEAS Investments, Courtside Ventures, Gaingels, OCA Venture, Subversive Capital and 305 Ventures.

The new seed round is the second funding round for the startup that is headquartered in New York and has an R&D office in Bulgaria, following its pre-seed funding in March 2022 which raised $1.8 million.

Gaingels, a private investment syndicate that participated in Betty’s seed round commented that, while historically sports betting and casinos had been marketed to men, more than half of these markets are made by women, and they admire “Betty’s mission to make the category more inclusive.”

On November 28th, 2022, the Quebec-based Mohawk Council of Kahnawake (MCK) filed a lawsuit against iGaming Ontario and the Attorney General of Ontario for unilateral changes to the way online gaming is conducted in the region.

Cause of action:

MCK has been in the Ontario iGaming market for 25 years. Its experience is second to none when it comes to safe gambling. Its Kahnawake Gaming Commission (KGC) has been licensing iGaming operators since 1996 and its subsidiary Mohawk Internet Technologies has been unrivaled in enabling iGaming through its hosting facility since 1999.

Every iGaming operator hosted by its subsidiary must be licensed by the KGC.

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawake developed iGaming operator Mohawk Online in 2015, contributing to job growth and 30-40 million dollars to the community’s coffers.

Mike Delisle Jr., former grand chief and current council chief at the Mohawk Council of Kahnawake, said: “This new regime ignores our expertise in the gaming sector and will result in the loss of significant revenue to the community of Kahnawake.”

MCK was the most prominent opponent of C-218, legislation that tra…

Square Enix appears to have learnt its lesson when it comes to sparkly new technology—just with a considerable input delay. Earlier this year, Square Enix’s president Takashi Kiryu spoke glowingly of generative AI, which carried strong echoes of the company’s equally ill-timed love affair with NFTs.

In a newsletter from January, he stated: “I believe that generative AI has the potential not only to reshape what we create, but also to fundamentally change the processes by which we create,” and that the company would be “aggressive in applying AI and other cutting-edge technologies to both our content development and our publishing functions.”

As reported by michsuzu on Twitter (and later spotted, then translated by Automaton), in a June 21 call to investors, Kiryu seems to believe that, just maybe, being hyper-aggressive about applying a controversial new technology isn’t the best of ideas:

“AI itself has tremendous potential. However, there are also many risks involved.” Said risks are not just relegated to the court of public opinion—generative AI technology has a habit of hallucinating information. For instance, it may completely fabricate a rec…

AI is a thing. Didn’t you know? It’s been around for years, but with the rise of the likes of ChatGPT and coverage by mainstream media, it’s now a part of the public consciousness — and people are wary of it.

A poll published by Mitre-Harris (via Axios) showed that US adults lack trust in AI technology. The survey of 2,063 adults showed just 39% of them believed today’s AI technologies to be safe and secure. That’s down 9% from a similar poll in November 2022.

Additionally, 54% said they were more concerned about the risks of AI than they were excited about its potential benefits. The respondents overwhelmingly worry about the use of AI in cyberattacks (80%), identity theft (78%) and its use to generate deceptive political advertisements (74%). 52% were worried that AI would replace their jobs.

It’s clear the US public wants to see a nationwide effort to ensure AI technology is safe and secure, according to 85% of those surveyed. That group is strongly bipartisan, with Republicans (82%), Democrats (87%), and Independents (85%) all wanting leaders to step up.

When it comes to age groups, younger people are more supportive of AI, while Generation X an…

According to his biographer, Max Brod, Franz Kafka once postulated over lunch that our world wasn’t much more than “a bad mood of God, a bad day.” When Brod asked if, then, that meant there was room for hope—perhaps God’s bad mood could end—Kafka replied “Oh, hope enough, infinite hope—just not for us.”

Which is pretty much the vibe I get from the devs at worker-owned studio Summer Eternal, one of the many Disco Elysium successor companies that popped up in the wake of ZA/UM’s fracturing. In a recent chat with VG247, the devs at the studio were asked if they saw much chance of conditions in the industry improving following a devastating couple of years of layoffs. Their answer? “I think this industry is finished. But fortunately for everyone, videogames are not.”

The dev who said that was former Disco Elysium writer Dora Klindžić, and it should probably tell you something about both the state of the games industry and the general vibe at this studio in particular that hers was not the most alarming answer given by the team. Her comrade Aleksandar Gavrilović takes a more “accelerationist” view. Finally, the games industry ha…
