Minutes of the 288th meeting of Inner Universe Toastmaster Club
Discover Yourself theme by TM Harsha Wagh
October 29th 2017

Meeting no. 288 was an interesting and excellent meeting steered by TM Harsha with the Theme “Discover Yourself”. She brilliantly demonstrated how to discover yourselfand happy to say in turn she discovered her leadership skills by first time leading the meeting. We had four wonderful and informative prepared speeches. Meeting started by 7:30pm.

Young cheerful Sergeant at arms TM Md.Aslam opened the meeting reading out the Toastmaster International mission and urged the participants to refrain talking from Taboo topics of politics, religion and sex. He invited President TM Rasheed to start the meeting.

TM Rasheed opened the meeting and shared his experience of education session held on 27th October which covered topics like VAT, Knock the “T “out of “CANT” and  stand up comedy. He recalled the phrase from TM Abraham who said there are 2 kinds of Speakers one nervous and other Liars and he requested Toastmasters to utilize the opportunities. He called upon the budding Toastmaster TM Harsha to lead the meeting.

TM Harsha spoke about “Discover Yourself” The greatest and most important adventure of our lives is discovering who we really are. In order to be most valuable person  to our surrounding i.e. best partner, parent, colleague we have to know our self. She gave some suggestions like create your journal, distinguish your thought from the
thoughts of others, start thrusting yourself, organise your personal and professional world, conquer yourself. She called upon the Role players.

Thought of the evening by TM Syamlal he explained an amazing thought from Helen Keller that the most beautiful thing in the World cannot be seen or even touched, they must be felt with Heart
Word of the Day by TM Sajeev well explained the word “ARDENT” meaning very enthusiastic or passionate with example like He is an ardent lover of poetry, he can recite many famous works with easy.
Greet Master TM Shruthi, Timer TM Mohammed Aslam, AH counter TM Dipak Soni , Grammarian TM Ketan Mhatre, Quiz master TM Prachi all did their role to the perfect.

TM Jayakrishnan gave his Project 3 Tittle “VIRTUAL DEATH TRAP”. It was on the notorious online game which is becoming alarmingly popular in various countries. Unfortunately many suicides were reported as a result of participation in this game. The speech covered areas like details of the game, its origin, how it is played why it is a trap etc Some signs to look out for to identify a participant and some recommendations to prevent these from affecting us were given, evaluated by TM Senthil Kumar

TM Rajan Twade delivered his Project 7 on “Oil and gas origin” He came up with an question why Abu Dhabi sea shore has oil and gas, not in other sea shores?  He says due to the plate Tectonics i.e. 2 layers of Earth move or slide with each other and change their location. Middle east was mostly sea area after earth splits or major earth movement occurred in deep sea lots of plants and tiny creatures buried and also due to its rock condition its suitable for oil and gas. He explained about  fundamental of oil and gas also types of conventional oil and gas deposits, evaluated by TM Rasheed

TM Mohamad Asif delivered his Project 9 on “Networking for success in business and career” He opened with a valuable question How many of you are looking for job? he says 75% of job recruitment takes place through reference. It requires time, He came up with an idea on how to network? it can be with anybody or even competitors
too. Convince them, they will connect to the right person, evaluated by TM Shruthi

TM Senthil Kumar gave project 2 from Advance Project Manual- Speaking to inform Manual ” Kinesics” .He explained Kinesics is the study of gestures and body movements. Familiarising ourselves with the same will help us to be aware of gestures used by us during our conversation or communication . It will enhance our
non verbal communication
There are 5 types of Kinesics
1. Emblems : body movements that are used in place of words
2. Illustrators : body movements that reinforce that is being said
3. Regulators : gestures that controls turn taking in conversation and maintain flow of speech
4. Adapters : acts executed to make the speaker feel comfortable
5. Affect display: acts that reflect our true emotion, evaluated by TM Ketan

Table Topic session was conducted by TM Minal Joshi she selected topic related to the theme like If you woke up to be a Farmer, Politician, Cricketer, Bollywood actor TM Dipak Soni, TM Sajeev, TM Shruthi and guest joyfully explained their new role.

General evaluation by TM Kumarappan he was delighted to see the Toastmasters who were on time and meeting started on time. He appreciated all the speakers and the role players especially TME Harsha for being fabulous host.

TM Harsha concluded with her role and handed over the stage to President. TM Rasheed thanked TM Harsha and well appreciated for the flawless meeting on her first
attempt as a Toastmaster of the Evening and closed the meeting before time 9:20pm.
Dinner served at 9:30pm.
