Minutes of the 292th meeting of Inner Universe Toastmaster Club

This was the Musical meeting held by TM Senthilkumar. TM Senthilkumar introduced the theme of the meeting and started the meeting by playing a pleasant musical clip. He explained us how music affects our life and how music can make huge positive difference in our life and make our life stress free. He said he will talk less and play music during the meeting, since it is always good to listen music rather than talking about it. Meeting started at 7.35pm.
Young jubilant Sergeant at Arms TM Mohammad Aslam opened the meeting reading out Toastmasters international mission and urged participants to refrain talking from Taboo Topics of politics, religion and sex. He invited President TM Rashid to start the meeting.
President TM Rasheed opened meeting enthusiastically. President in the opening speech talked about bidding adieu to 2017 and welcoming 2018. TM Rasheed advised everyone to have New Year resolutions and stick to those ones. Two guests were present during the meeting. They introduced themselves and thanked club for warmly welcoming them.
Thought of the evening was presented by TM Jayakrishanan. He spoke on World Arabic Language Day (WALD), which is also known as the UN Arabic Language Day, observed annually on December 18. The day celebrates the Arabic language and promotes cultural diversity. He even explained that various English words are originated from Arabic. Arabic language is one of sixth official languages of United Nations. He advised all toastmasters to learn Arabic and take their Arabic skills to next level,. The UAE has also taken many steps to preserve the Arabic language and restore its status as the official language. One of the initiatives is to distribute tablets with specially designed Arabic language educational programmes and applications to students and teachers of government schools.
TM Senthilkumar introduced all role players. TM Mohamad Aslam (Greet Master), TM Syamlal (Timer), TM Mohamad Asif (Ah Counter), TM Alok (Grammarian), TM Sudhir (Quiz Master), performed their roles outstandingly.
TM Minal Joshi has given her Project No 3 titled “Planning a trip to Paradise on Earth.” TM Minal initiated her speech by great poem by Julia Jorden and introduced ‘Maldives’ as paradise on earth. She put light on factors considered for effective planning of trip to Maldives (for example plan visit in the months of October to April etc. where there is no rainfall). The Maldives consists of 1,192 coral islands grouped in a double chain of 26 atolls, along the north-south direction, spread over roughly 90,000 square kilometres (35,000 sq mi), making this one of the world’s most dispersed countries. TM Minal given superb speech loaded with information on marvellous Maldives and suggested everybody to visit paradise at least once in a life. Speech was evaluated by TM Haneef Puttur.
TM Mahanshu talked on fear and completed his Project No 6 “Be Fearless” outstandingly. He said social embarrassment is biggest fear of any person. He also talked about how he faced fear during his school and college days. Fear is a feeling induced by perceived danger or threat that occurs in certain types of organisms, which causes a change in metabolic and organ functions and ultimately a change in behavior, such as fleeing, hiding, or freezing from perceived traumatic events. In humans and animals, fear is modulated by the process of cognition and learning. Thus fear is judged as rational or appropriate and irrational or inappropriate. An irrational fear is called a phobia. TM Mahanshu also explained that ‘Fear of Public Speaking is Irrational Fear.’ He also explained the ways of concaving fear (writing down about fear, learning about it, exposing to it). TM Mahanshu advised everyone to feel the fear, confront it and be fearless. He concluded his speech with a quote “Person with lot of fear dies everyday and fearless person dies only once.”The speech was evaluated by TM
TM Rajan Tawade has completed his Project No 10 “Inspiring Journey with Commandos” extraordinarily focusing on hard life of commandos. He explained the incidence of unexpected meet with 3 commandos when he was travelling from Mumbai to Asam. He also mentioned how discussion with 3 commandos changed his life. (You can ask speech from TM Rajan). Speech was evaluated by TM Namrata.
TM Mohamad Basheer has given Advance Project No 4 from special operation manual on “Absent minded person”. He says how absent minded people can create humour by taking the example of one of our Toastmaster, speech was evaluated by TM Rajshekar
We witnessed amazing Table Topic session conducted by TM Ranjit with the topics covered such as
1. Activity makes me loose track of time
2. Where word fails, music speaks
TM Senthil concluded with his role and handed over the stage to the President. TM Rasheed thanked TM Senthil for the musical journey and congratulated Speakers and role players.
